A workshop about movement by animation director Kaisa Penttilä and dancer, choreographer Elke Schroeder
What?
What do animation and dance have in common? Both are movement for the audience, but approaching the subject from very different angles. In Movement Laboratory movement is investigated using methods from both animation and dance. The participants observe movement by moving themselves and watching others. The tasks include drawing, playing, sculpting and using everyone’s own body as a tool.

For whom?
The workshop is mainly targeted for professionals and students of animation and dance, but it is also suitable for other performative and visual artists interested in movement, poses, rhythm, staging etc.

The Outcome
The outcome of Movement Laboratory is professional development; broadening one’s own professional horizon, learning new tools and perspectives to one’s own artistic work and building connections to other disciplines.

The pictures are taken in Eesti Kunstiakadeemia in 2025.
